Cape Town - With load shedding almost a daily reality, many South Africans are now planning their days around power cuts.
Adding her voice to a call to join the war effort, a Fin24 user shares how she responds to power cuts, and what she does to make good use of the time in the dark.
Enid says that after finding a good book, she now looks forward to load shedding.
"Find yourself a book to read during load shedding – it has actually motivated me to read and makes me excited for load shedding," she writes.

She also suggests:
• Charge your torch or solar lamp battery and use it at night to create a romantic ambiance.
• Use gas for cooking. ".... to rent I think it's below R200, and then from there you just take it back every time you need to re-gas.. it's actually so much fun and better yet, you can even go and sit outside; you don’t have to have the lights on," says Enid.
• Gas lamps are also useful if you set them on the lowest setting.
• Time your geyser and switch it off during the high consumption peak.
