Cape Town - A Fin24 user was dismayed to find that eateries have not yet adapted to serve customers during load shedding.
Responding to a call to join the war effort and sharing load shedding survival tips, user Adinda writes: "I live in Stellenbosch, and on Saturday morning just before 10h00 we were going out for breakfast, but once load shedding hit, EVERY outlet closed!
"Not even a cup of coffee available anywhere! I really would have thought that at least the Wimpy would have come up with a load shedding menu!"
Aninda writes that her daughter then came up with this idea for load shedding alternatives on weekends, specifically for breakfasts, and in a student town like Stellenbosch there is a ready target market!
"Schools can organise braai areas, where you can either pay a small fee and bring your own, or the school can cook and sell different items.
"Breakfast ideas are bacon and egg rolls (these you can cook on what we always used to call skottel braais), boerewors rolls, steakrolls, burgers etc.
"Ready-made items such as croissants filled with different types of hams and cheese, and preserves are really easy enough to sell."
She says further that "it is really not hard to keep coffee warm in those big flasks, easy enough to make large pots of these and ensure that coffee drinkers get their morning fix".
