As people line the streets to pay personal homage to Nelson Mandela, a Fin24 user says she wishes that moment could last longer. She writes:
Hamba Kahle Tata Madiba. The journey home reflects heaven's preparing to welcome home one of their own.
And thus we line the streets to pay a personal homage as we watch your casket moving along.
We grasp at the suddenness of the entourage not leaving enough time for your people to glimpse our hero, bringing home the reality of an end of an era of a world icon's final moments amongst us.
Is it just me that wants these precious moments to last but a few moments longer?
Is it just me that finds it painful to bid you goodbye?
Is it just me that feels a deep sadness that today we could have strived to show our love by strewing flowers on your path?
Is it just me that hears the deafening silence, devoid of poetic music that rings out over the landscape?
I will forever remember even when others have closed this chapter on your incredible life.
Our heavenly father smiles as you journey closer to him eager to embrace you for in you he is well pleased.
And in that I take my comfort for somehow my own gratitude is so inadequate to fully show what you have given as a precious gift some may never fully appreciate.
Salutations honourable Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela. Our beloved Madiba, you are entrenched in my heart. Journey well Tata. May your precious soul be forever in perfect peace.
My eternal love, respect and gratitude. Halala Tata, I am because you were.
