Fin24 user Joel was one of many who sent in comments on reports that FNB has bowed to political pressure on its controversial ad campaign. He writes:
Hi
I think FNB should stick to what they know best, what they have been licensed for according to Fais, they are a financial services provider not a political party.
FNB is a financial services provider - they can get involved in an outreach programme by another means, not giving an opinion on how the government should run the country.
To me this kind of ad proves to me that you are some sort of people who wants to bring down the government which has given you that freedom of speech that you claim to know...
Basically, what I am saying is you cannot do what you are not authorised to do, you are the leading bank in South Africa in all departments, but your ad makes us think twice: are you a bank or some sort of an agent for a political party or foreign country?
Kind regards
Joel
