Cape Town - Electronic tolling on Gauteng freeways has largely been cursed by motorists, but this Fin24 user thinks the system is fantastic.
This of course bucks the trend of comments slamming the SA National Roads Agency Limited (Sanral).
"I think the Gauteng freeway system around Johannesburg and Pretoria is fantastic," wrote the user. "Well done Sanral."
He said travelling to Pretoria is no longer a congested pain.
"The electronic collection works well and the cost is a fraction of my motoring costs."
He commended the principal of user pay, saying it is sound.
Offering a new perspective, he said the public should rather rally for a better public transporting system.
"The public should be pressurising the government to provide a decent working public transport system all over the country.
"This opposition to e-tolls is wasting a huge amount of money that could be better spent."
But is e-tolls here to stay?
Weekend reports indicated that the ANC leadership is at odds over the system.
A City Press report on Sunday said the e-tolls saga had split the top six of the ANC.
ANC deputy secretary general Jessie Duarte is reported to have allegedly said she “would rather go to jail than pay e-tolls”.
It is also believed that she gave Gauteng Premier David Makhura the go ahead to institute a panel to review the controversial system.
