I don't bother going to a dentist anymore. Broke a tooth about two years ago just before the holidays. Dentist was too busy to remove it, so he only cleaned the area and placed a temporary cap on it. That alone costed my medical aid just under R2 000! Imagine if they had to remove it?
Currently using anti-inflamatories when it becomes inflamed. Costing me only R15!
Speak to most people and they'll tell you what a money making industry the oral health industry has become. People are losing their jobs in their thousands and the dentists are worried about inflation beating increase?
I wholeheartedly support government's efforts to curb their pricing structure. Yes, I have medical aid. People think it's free. They increase their fees and medical aids just increases the members fees.

Dentists' fees are exorbitant.
Medical aids don't pay for dental care because of the exorbitant fees.
A third user responded:
I am on a medical aid and found dentists to be very unscrupulous in their dealings and (sic) commit fraud and steal from people.
