A Fin24.com user asks:
I registered a closed corporation (CC) and for the past two years, I did not submit the returns as the CC could not actually do business because of the depressed economy.
Now I want to start business and I found that the companies and intellectual property registration office (Cipro) has deregistered the CC because of a failure to submit returns.
However, the CC was dormant for the reason I stated above. What can I do under this circumstance to re-register my CC?
Shaun Collins of Hahn & Hahn responds:
To re-register the CC, you can make an application to Cipro for its restoration.
The process differs, depending on whether the CC is the owner of immovable property.
Should the CC own immovable property, the process is more costly and takes longer to complete.
However, in both instances it is possible to restore a CC that has been deregistered.
