Johannesburg - The Consumer Goods Council SA (CGCSA) has appointed Mncane Mthunzi as its new CEO as of June 1 2009.
Mthunzi will replace August Iwanski, who resigned in May 2008.
"The GSCA has an important role to play in this country and I am excited by the prospects that lie ahead," said Mthunzi.
The CGCSA aims to be the sector's voice to government and other key bodies on all relevant industry, legal and regulatory issues.
Newly appointed co-chairpersons to the CGCSA board with immediate effect are Unilever SA chairperson Gail Klintworth and Grant Pattison, the CEO of Massmart. They replace Rainbow Chicken CEO Miles Dally and Woolworths CEO Simon Susman as part of the normal rotation process.
Mthunzi started his career as a consultant at Accenture before moving to PricewaterhouseCoopers as a senior manager, the Black Management Forum as MD and Microsoft as an enterprise strategy consultant. He later took on a sales executive role within Microsoft.
"We are delighted to have Mncane Mthunzi on board. We count on him to expand the role and relevance of the GSCA," said Massmart's Pattison on behalf of the CGCSA board.
