I am looking to start my own business, but I am still very much confused about what type of a business would I like to start.
I am a qualified pharmacist and I am no longer interested in pharmacy.
I do not know much about other industries, however, I would like to learn.
I do not have any capital either.
I want to go into business primarily because I feel suffocated as an employee and I want to work towards my own dreams instead of building someone elses empire.
Where and how can I start?
Kirsten Cohead, an industrial psychologist and integral coach of Kirsten Cohead and Associates, responds:
Consider career coaching. The purpose of coaching is to assist individuals with expanding their “ways of being” so that increased possibilities become available professionally and personally.
Coaching is about shifting clients so that you are able to generate new ways of being in and engaging with the world.
Individuals who are more fulfilled and content in the workplace are more productive and are able to contribute more meaningfully to the achievement of professional and personal objectives.
A thorough career assessment will assist you with identifying your strengths, your development areas, your personal preferences, your interests, your values, as well as what drives and motivates you, all of which are important determinants of career fulfilment.
Coaching assists clients with gaining self-awareness and deep insight about themselves, which in turn generates enlightening paradigm shifts and motivates action in terms of goal achievement.
Coaching also liberates individuals from self-limiting and restrictive beliefs and navigates channels that lead to the opening of new possibilities.
Clients are able to redefine and recreate themselves and they feel motivated and inspired to initiate action and viable change in their lives.
Career coaching is typically future-oriented and goal-directed.
It focuses on enabling individuals to prioritise and creatively problem-solve.
It is developmentally based in such a way that relevant and powerful learning occurs.
