Johannesburg - Discovery Health medical scheme on Thursday resigned from the Board of Healthcare Funders of Southern Africa (BHF), the body said.
"The board of directors of BHF regrets the decision and intends to engage with the board of trustees on the contents of the letter of resignation," BHF statement read.
The body said Discovery's decision appeared to have been based primarily on a divergence of views between itself and other BHF member schemes on certain regulatory and policy issues. The BHF will continue to represent the views within its remaining 113 member medical schemes and the interests of the industry as a whole into the future.
BHF's core areas of focus are: services around benefit and risk, health legislation, legal assistance, research, forensic management, trustee training, and industry analysis.
