Cape Town - Radio personality Gareth Cliff and Anthea Gardner of Cartesian Capital have teamed up to launch what they call an innovative investment product named #Invest.
At the launch in Cape Town on Tuesday Cliff said it is important for them to make the topic of money part of their broadcasts.
"The SA stock market used to be seen as an elite area of interest and for many people it was out of reach. So, we decided to launch a product we think will bring more people into this area. This is a way to ‘uberise’ a part of the economy," Cliff said at the launch.
"Our audience should be able to participate in a real way. The majority of South Africans don’t have a very sophisticated knowledge about this area. What we offer is not some kind of fly by night thing. Let's see how many people we can introduce to this exciting new world and if we cause disruption by driving more people to stocks."
Gardner added that they received many requests for financial advice from listeners to their programmes.
"We realised that many people needed and wanted education on investment matters. The number of people interested is phenomenal. They want to own their own share portfolio," explained Gardner.
"We understand that not everyone has the same financial goals and, therefore, we have created four portfolios across the risk return spectrum, ranging from conservative income, to stable growth and income, balanced growth and aggressive growth."
