Cape Town - First National Bank is making parking at the airports lighter on the pockets of its clients amid soaring costs of living, the bank announced on Wednesday.
FNB clients will get 10% cash back on their airport parking bill when they pay with a FNB Consumer Credit or Cheque Card, senior corporate communications manager, Steve Higgins told Fin24.
"Customers transact as normal, paying for the full amount due at the pay station," he explained.
"FNB will then pick up on these transactions and deposit the 10% refund into the customer’s account used for the transaction. This will be processed within 14 days from the transaction."
The campaign will run from September 27 until November 30 2013 - at OR Tambo, King Shaka, Cape Town and Lanseria International Airport - with the option to extend the promotion.
Pay stations at the four airports have been upgraded to enabled it to accept credit and debit card payments.
Higgins said the discount portion is solely funded by FNB with no direct benefit to the airports other than enhancing customer experience.
FNB CEO Michael Jordaan said earlier this month that its customers will be able to earn up to 15% in eBucks when they shop at Shoprite Checkers.
The benefit that the deal will bring to FNB customers is expected to be at least an additional R120m a year, he said at the launch.
The bank also unveiled the revision of its online banking platform in July.
According to the annual Finweek Bank Charges Report, FNB emerged as the cheapest bank in 2012 on the Pay as You Transact option.
It was also named as South Africa's banking industry leader in February, in a survey by the South African Customer Satisfaction Index (SAcsi).
FNB also won the Most Innovative Bank of the Year Award at a prestigious global award ceremony in Washington DC in October 2012.
