Cape Town – Needing a sober buddy to drive you home after an unexpected big night out has become a lot easier since the major banks started offering Take Me Home services, where they dispatch two drivers to meet you and drive your car home.
First National Bank (FNB), Absa and Standard Bank all offer the service to different tiers of card holders and give free access to the service between four to eight times per year.
The demand for taxi and designated driver services is increasing across South Africa and Take me Home has, in June 2014 alone, serviced 7 212 customers.
Who can use it, where
The service is available within a 50km radius of city centres in Johannesburg, Pretoria, Cape Town, Durban, East London, Port Elizabeth and George.
Credit cards create value when they have embedded rewards and benefits that address customer needs.
FNB Standalone, linked Platinum and Private Clients Petro cardholders can benefit from six free trips per year with the designated driver service Take Me Home.
Absa Gold Value Bundle or Spouse Value Bundle Account holders get six trips, while Platinum Value Bundle or Spouse Value Bundle Account holders get eight trips per year.
Standard Bank’s Achiever Electronic, Elite Banking, Prestige Banking, Private Banking, Consolidator and Private Client customers get four trips per year, with 30% discounts on further trips.
Good saving tool
This benefit not only provides customers with the convenience of getting home safely but equally important, it enables them to save on additional expenses, according to FNB.
“More and more of our customers are linking their credit cards to these service providers for payment. By adding the Take Me Home service to our Standalone, linked Platinum and Private Clients Petro Car enables us to offer a more holistic credit product that aligns to our customers’ needs and ultimately saves them money,” said Johan Maree, CEO of FNB Credit Card.
“In order to make the most of rewards and benefits embedded in your card, make sure that you choose a credit card with a reward and benefit programme that fits your needs and rewards you in a currency that works for your lifestyle. Make sure you know about all the services that are available to you through your card and most importantly – make use of them,” said Maree.
