Hong Kong - Hong Kong stocks retreated in the morning session on Thursday following the previous day's sharp gains, while investors nervously await Donald Trump's inauguration speech as US president at the end of the week.
The Hang Seng Index fell 136.27 points, to 22 961.99.
The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index edged down 1.81 points, to 3 111.20 but the Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China's second exchange, ticked up 1.66 points, to 1 866.25.
