Johannesburg - South African internet users have been intermittently cut off from the world on Tuesday as Telkom experiences connectivity problems on its SAT-3 undersea cable.
According to a note from Telkom, local users will experience patchy internet connection to international websites until 17:00 on Tuesday.
"The SAT-3 cable is degraded due a suspected power problem between Abidjan and Lagos. Telkom SA is busy localising the cause of the failure," the telecommunications firm said.
