New York - US stocks opened mixed on Friday after ExxonMobil and Chevron profits slumped on falling crude oil prices, dragging down the Dow, as investors digested a slew of corporate earnings reports.
Five minutes into trade, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 3.94 points (0.02%) at 17 742.04.
The broad-market S&P 500 edged up 2.11 (0.10%) to 2 110.74, while the tech-rich Nasdaq Composite Index gained 8.76 (0.17%) at 5 137.55.
ExxonMobil lost 3.8% after reporting second-quarter earnings halved. Chevron fell 4.1% on a 90% drop in net income.
