New York - Rising hopes that Greece will reach a deal with official creditors to avert a default helped push US stocks higher in opening trade Tuesday.
In the first five minutes of trade, the Dow Jones Industrial Average added 30.83 points (0.17%) at 18 150.61.
The broad-based S&P 500 advanced 2.78 (0.13%) to 2 125.63, while the Nasdaq Composite, which punched to another record on Monday, gained 5.41 points (0.10%) at 5 159.38.
Patrick O'Hare of Briefing.com said markets also got support from the release of better-than-expected purchasing manager indices in China, Germany and France.
