London - European stock markets diverged at the start of trade on Tuesday, as London played catch-up following a long weekend.
In initial deals, London's benchmark FTSE 100 index rose 0.61% to 7 028.44 points compared with Friday's closing level. The market was shut Monday for a public holiday.
Elsewhere, Frankfurt's DAX 30 index dipped 0.38% to 11 576.12 points and the CAC 40 in Paris shed 0.15% to 5 074.42 compared with Monday's close.
Frankfurt and Paris had risen on Monday, boosted by a weaker euro before this week's important corporate results and economic data.
