New York - US stocks are rising in early trading as investors await a report on manufacturing and the dollar continues its slide.

Overseas markets rose on Tuesday amid diminishing fears about Dubai's credit problems. The emirate's government investment company says it is looking at restructuring part of its $60bn in debt.

A report on manufacturing is expected to show the sector continued to expand in November, but at a slightly slower pace than October.

The dollar slid further Tuesday morning, helping boost commodity prices. Gold set a new record.

The Dow Jones industrial average is up 101.95, or 1%, at 10 446.79. The Standard & Poor's 500 index is up 10.16, or 0.9%, at 1 105.79, while the Nasdaq composite index is up 24.03, or 1.1%, at 2 168.63.
