Rand hits R10/$ mark

Johannesburg - Better than expected producer inflation data sent the rand through the R10 to the dollar mark‚ with easing tensions over a stimulus withdrawal from the US economy in the near term also providing support.

At 18:00 the rand was bid at R9.9809/$ from Wednesday’s close of R10.0911/$.

The local currency was bid at R12.9896/€ from its previous close of R13.1324/€ and was at R15.1974 against sterling from R15.4609 at its previous close.

The euro was bid at $1.3014 from $1.3013 at Wednesday’s close.
