Johannesburg - The rand ended slightly firmer against the dollar 0.36% on Tuesday on the back of a positive gross domestic product (GDP) number.
At 16:28 GMT the rand changed hands at R10.69/$, slightly firmer than its R10.7125/$ close in New York on Monday.
The economy avoided a technical recession, according to data from Stats SA.
The economy grew 0.6% in the second quarter after contracting by the same amount in the first three months of this year.
