Rand extends losses against dollar

Johannesburg - The rand fell by more than 2.0% against the dollar on Friday on lingering worries about the eurozone debt crisis.

By 10:57 GMT, the currency was trading at 8.138 to the dollar, coming back slightly from a session low of 8.1599. It closed at 7.9805 in New York on Thursday.

Government bonds also weakened, with yields adding 15 basis points to 7.04% on the 2015 bond and 8.675% on the 2026 issue.
