Johannesburg - Foreigners were net buyers of R1.381bn of South African bonds including repurchase agreements in the week ended July 22, after net purchases of R3.056bn of local bonds the week before, figures from the JSE show.
This brought net purchases including repurchase agreements for 2011 to date to R32.787bn.
In 2010 foreigners bought net R44.541bn of local bonds including repurchases after net sales in 2009 of R3.293bn worth of bonds.
Foreigners were net buyers of R1.365bn of South African bonds excluding repurchase agreements last week after net purchases of R3.040bn the week before.
This brought net purchases excluding repurchase agreements for the year to date to R41.694bn.
In 2010 foreigners bought net R57.064bn of local bonds excluding repo transactions after net purchases in 2009 of R27.346bn worth of local bonds.
