Foreigners snap up R3.8bn of SA bonds

Johannesburg - Foreigners were net buyers of R3.811bn of South African bonds including repurchase agreements in the week ended May 10‚ after net purchases of R1.610bn of local bonds the week before‚ figures from the JSE show.

So far this year‚ foreigners are net buyers of R22.437bn of local bonds including repo transactions. In 2012 non residents were net buyers of R85.373bn of local bonds including repo transactions.

Foreigners were net buyers of R3.173bn of South African bonds excluding repurchase agreements last week after net purchases of R3.629bn of local bonds the previous week.

So far this year non-residents have bought a net R33.257bn of local bonds excluding repurchase agreements.

In 2012 they bought a net R93.515bn.
