Frankfurt - German automobile maker Volkswagen expects record sales of more than 3.5 million cars for its core VW brand in 2007, the company said Thursday.
"August, just like the first eight months of the year, brought new sales records. By the end of the year, the Volkswagen brand will delivere more than 3.5 million vehicles, more than ever before," said Michael Kern, VW brand's executive board member in charge of distribution.
The VW brand saw vehicle sales rise 12.1% in August, beating July vehicle sales growth of 10.5%.
In total, the first eight months of the year saw 286 000 cars delivered. This equates to an 8.3% rise in vehicle sales on the same period the previous year.
