Athens-The main Greek unions called for a fresh round of anti-austerity protests on Thursday at 15:00 near parliament where the spending cuts were to be voted on a day after deadly riots.
A day after three people died in a firebombed bank as huge protests degenerated into rioting, the million-member GSEE private sector union condemned "the fires, blind violence, vandalism."
"We are determined to pursue and extend our struggle to meet our fair demands," it said in a statement as the government prepared for a vote in parliament at about 15:00 GMT on the austerity drive.
The GSEE union and the 375000-member strong Adedy public-sector union were to demonstrate near the parliament as the bill went to a vote while the PAME communist union planned a separate rally, union sources said.
