Seoul - Prosecutors have requested that a South Korean court sentence former Samsung Chairperson Lee Kun-hee to 7 years in prison for tax evasion and other charges.
The prosecutors also demanded that Lee be fined 350bn won in a hearing on Thursday at the Seoul Central District Court.
The Seoul court was expected to deliver its verdict and sentence on Lee as early as next week after reviewing the prosecution demand.
The probe against Lee and Samsung was prompted by allegations raised by a former company lawyer that Samsung created a large slush fund to bribe prosecutors, officials and other influential figures.
