BIG APPLE BLITZ
THE WINNERS OF last year’s Pendoring Advertising Awards plan a digital media blitz to show and tell how they’re using their R25 000 study tour prize in New York during July. It will be part of a publicity drive for the 2011 Pendorings, launched this week.
Renier Zandberg (creative director) and Nico Botha (copywriter) of Ogilvy Johannesburg will be blogging, Facebooking, twittering and YouTubing as they work to hone their advertising skills and play in the Big Apple. They are also part of the Ogilvy creative team that created the 2011 campaign.
The Pendorings (for Afrikaans-language advertising) has upped the prize money to R50 000 – plus an overseas study trip for the overall winner and a bursary for the top student – says GM Franette Klerck. Entries close on 15 August and the awards evening is 21 October.
Township dust
CREATIVES FOREIGN to township dust need not apply. Soweto’s first PR and social media agency – Ginjabred Media – has hung out its shingle and is open for business. First project is hosting “Alter Route Soweto and Cape Town”, which will “stretch the concept of buy-and-braai beyond traditional stereotypes, combining it with live music, fashion and art exhibitions.”
The team of Kabelo Taukobong, Kgomotso Morena and Lesego Dintoe promise “creative yet cost-effective solutions to PR, social media, event and brand management needs”.
