Cape Town - A group of business people have initiated a mentorship club to guide and inspire young business people.
BAD club (it stands for Business and Development) was initiated by a group of seasoned business people who would like to mentor young business people but do not have the time to do it on a one-to-one basis.
"The idea came up of a club where there would be regular get togethers where the old business people could talk to groups of young business people and pass on their knowledge – thus the BAD Club was formed," said BAD chairperson Mike Spencer.
The Club will function as the organiser of regular monthly lunch time functions where there will be a 15 to 30 minute talk by a knowledgeable business person on some aspect of their business.
"The balance of the two hour session will allow for interpersonal get togethers, networking and discussions in small groups. Each table will have a senior businessperson who will be able to answer questions from the youngsters," Spencer explained.
The BAD Club will also hold workshop sessions for 15 to 20 people.
Each workshop session will have a theme around which two way discussions on the topic will take place.
"The BAD Club wants to be seen as a place where young business people can throw out new ideas and have them worked over by more experienced people and their own age businesses people," Spencer said.
Any young business person interested in joining the BAD Club can contact Annelize de Villiers annelize.dv@bizzacc.co.za or 083 533 4194.
The BAD Club also welcomes anyone who would like to be a team leader for the workshopping sessions or to give an interesting talk at one of the lunch time functions. They can contact Mike Spencer mike@platinumglobal.co.za or 082 881 4711.
