Stellenbosch - SA golfing giant Ernie Els has expanded his entrepreneurial reach by launching a range of sparkling iced tea in conjunction with Chill Beverages International.
Big Easy Iced Tea & Lemonade, takes its name from Els' nickname. It is free of preservatives and artificial colourants, lower in sugar and consists of a blend of lemon juice and extracts of real tea.
The carbonated soft drinks category is the biggest beverage category in the world.
The blending iced teas with other beverages is one of the fastest growing trends in the beverage industry.
“Ernie’s Big Easy is a laid-back drink that brings you the big taste of lemonade and the easy refreshment of an iced tea,” said Ross Hobbs, Marketing Director of Chill Beverages International.
Chill Beverages International (Pty) Ltd supports Els for Autism, the NGO founded by Ernie and Liezl Els to help autistic children.
Sales of new Big Easy Iced Tea & Lemonade will contribute towards Els for Autism, the NGO founded by Els and his wife Liezl, to help autistic children.
“Getting involved in the beverage industry by partnering in this South African product innovation is an exciting business challenge for me," said Els.
"My partners, Chill Beverages, located in Stellenbosch, were a natural choice after having already established my wine estate and restaurant in this special town over the last decade or so.”
