Minister in the Presidency Jeff Radebe this week announced that Risenga Maluleke had been appointed as the new Statistician-General and head of Stats SA.
His appointment will take effect from November 1 after Pali Lehohla’s tenure expires at the end of October.
Maluleke has worked for Stats SA for twenty years and started with the organisation as a manager at the Limpopo provincial office in 1997.
He is currently a deputy director-general at Stats SA.
Maluleke’s qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in mathematical statistics from the University of Limpopo and a master’s degree in urban and regional science from Stellenbosch University.
He has also completed senior executive programmes at the Wits and Harvard business schools.
