Cape Town - Cricket South Africa (CSA) recently announced the name of the South African T20 league to debut in the last quarter of 2017.
Teams will consist of local and international players.
The mission of the T20 Global League is to present world class, top quality cricket hosted in iconic local cities and stadiums in SA.
At the launch - in June - CSA President Chris Nenzani said the T20 Global League is perfectly positioned to become an internationally successful sporting event.
CSA chief executive Haroon Lorgat added that the era of "sportainment" has arrived and it is now SA’s time to capitalise on it.
But just big could the economic impact of the SA T20 be for the country?
The organisers told Fin24 that the global sponsorship in sport is estimated to top $62bn in 2017.
Local cricket star AB de Villiers, for instance, has 4.3 million Twitter followers.
