Cape Town - President Jacob Zuma welcomed the conclusion of the strike by platinum mineworkers, the presidency announced in a statement on Tuesday.
The Association of Mineworkers and Construction Union (Amcu) and platinum firms signed a settlement agreement following a crippling five-month wage strike.
"We welcome this positive development in the mining industry and congratulate all those who have been involved in the negotiations."
Zuma reiterated the government's commitment to revitalise mining towns and restore labour stability in the sector as mentioned in the State of the Nation address.
Workers are expected to return to work on Wednesday.
