Johannesburg - An agreement for an 8% wage increase has been reached in the woven and crochet textiles sector, says the SA Clothing and Textile Workers' Union (Sactwu).
"Approximately 1 500 workers in 30 factories, nationally, will benefit from this increase," said general secretary Andre Kriel.
The agreement, reached after the second round of talks under the auspices of the National Textile Bargaining Council, was signed by the Narrow Fabric Manufacturers Association on Wednesday.
Sactwu, the majority union, was expected to sign it shortly, Kriel said.
The increases would be effective from 1 July.
