Geneva - A 100-carat yellow diamond has fetched over $16m at a Geneva jewellery sale, Sotheby's says.
The so-called Graff Vivid Yellow diamond, which weighs 100.09 carats, was acquired by a private buyer, who was one of 30 individuals to bid on the sale.
"100 carats is a magical size when it comes to diamonds," said David Bennett, head of Sotheby's Switzerland.
The auction house did not give details on the identity of the buyer. Sotheby's said the auction set a world record for a jewellery auction, earning about $141m dollars overall.
