Johannesburg - South Africa's manufacturing output rose 1.5% year-on-year in volume terms in October from a 3.3% contraction in September, Statistics South Africa said on Tuesday.
On a month-on-month basis, factory production surged 6.9% but dropped 2.5% in the three months to October, compared with the preceding period.
Economists polled by Reuters had expected a year-on-year contraction of 2.1% and growth of 2% on a month-on-month basis.
