Johannesburg - The Federation of Unions of SA (Fedusa) and the National Council of Trade
Unions (Nactu) on Tuesday agreed to start the process of reviving the SA
Confederation of Trade Unions (Sacotu).
"Leaders from the respective trade union federations
acknowledged that the major obstacle to the operational output of Sacotu was
the lack of a joint programme of action," Sacotu president Joseph
Maqhekeni said in a statement.
"The meeting agreed that collective plans and
strategies going forward will be based on the national priorities of
workers."
Fedusa and Nactu met at the National Economic Development
and Labour Council on Tuesday evening, said Maqhekeni.
Sacotu was launched at the end of 2007 after the merger of Fedusa with the Nactu.
