Pretoria - Textile worker's union Sactwu has welcomed the appointment of its general secretary Ebrahim Patel as minister of economic development in President Jacob Zuma's new cabinet.
"We know him as a hard worker, dedicated to the struggle of workers and the poor," the Southern African Clothing and Textile Workers' Union said in a statement on Sunday.
"We wish him well and want him to know that the members and officials of Sactwu appreciate the work he has done over the past 24 years and the work which he will continue to do in his new position. Sactwu will always be his home."
