Johannesburg - South Africa's trade account swung back into deficit in January, recording a shortfall of R3.33bn compared with a R3.67bn surplus in December, the South African Revenue Service said on Friday.
Sars said in a statement exports dived 19.24% compared with the previous month to R36.64bn, while imports fell 4.14% to R39.97bn.
Economist polled by Reuters had predicted a 2.2 billion rand deficit.
