Cape Town - Top South African companies will be looking to hire at Career Indaba in Cape Town from September 12 and 13.
Thousands of school leavers, learners and students and their parents are expected to attend the Career Indaba at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC).
Entry is free.
Companies including South African Airways, Amazon, Food Lovers Market, PIC, Transnet, Cape Nature, Peninsula Beverage Company and MINTEK are looking to recruit.
Visitors can also meet with representatives of colleges and universities and attend workshops with practical advice on career choices, finding a job and writing a CV.
Other workshops include the fashion industry, studying abroad, taking a gap year, an interactive Amazon-workshop, study loans, bursaries, career guidance
“There is a lack of career advice and many young people will pick the stereotypical jobs when you ask them what they want to be - a doctor, lawyer, engineer," said Career Indaba director Claire O’Connell.
"They don’t realise that the subject choices they have already made may prevent them from fulfilling these dreams. They can become disillusioned and we want to show them there are so many other options available to them.”
Visitors can already register online at www.careerindaba.co.za and there is a free bus shuttle offered for groups.
