Johannesburg - South Africa's poor and middle class should support the e-toll system so that the country does not default on its finances, the ANC Youth League national task team said on Friday.
"We call upon the public to comply with e-toll plans so that the state does not default," ANCYL League leader Mzwandile Masina told reporters in Johannesburg.
Public and scholar transport were exempt from tolls, Masina said.
"We are concerned about the middle class. We have been guaranteed [by the SA National Roads Agency Ltd (Sanral)] that the rates are now lower.
"We will keep looking into lowering rates and offsetting costs as we continuously engage with Sanral."
