Cape Town - Five former officials in the Stellenbosch municipality were arrested on Friday for alleged fraud relating to tenders, Western Cape police said.
Colonel Billy Jones said the men, aged between 36 and 58, were arrested on Friday in Khayamandi on allegations of irregularities and unlawful conduct in municipal tendering processes.
The arrests come after an investigation launched in October, after a tip-off to the provincial Directorate of Priority Crime Investigation (Hawks).
The five would probably appear in the Stellenbosch Magistrate's Court on Monday, said Jones.
