Johannesburg - Twelve Metropolitan employees have been suspended for allegedly defrauding the SA Revenue Services (Sars) of R1.5m, the insurance company said on Monday.
"Metropolitan has suspended 12 employees from its Tzaneen office and will implement formal disciplinary action against the accused immediately," spokesperson Phillip Matlakala said in a statement.
The total extent of the fraud was estimated at R70m.
"It is anticipated that Sars' own investigation will uncover a much wider fraud scam to account for the rest of the R70m."
