Johannesburg - President Jacob Zuma has appointed Thembekile Kimi Makwetu as Auditor General with effect from 1 December 2013.
Makwetu, a Chartered Accountant by profession, has served as deputy Auditor- General for six years.He has a Bachelor of Social Science degree from the University of Cape Town, a Bachelor of Accounting Science from the University of South Africa and a postgraduate diploma in Accountancy from the University of Natal.
The appointment of the new Auditor General is for a period of seven years.
Zuma also thanked the former Auditor General, Terence Nombembe, for his efficient and effective service over the past few years.
