Cape Town - The SA Revenue Service (Sars) has a target of R741bn this year and is expected to collect more than R2 trillion over the next three years, according to Finance Minister
Pravin Gordhan.
Speaking to Parliament's finance committee ahead of Sars' presentation of its strategic plan, Gordhan also said that recessions caused "unacceptable tax practices, worldwide".
He said that higher growth numbers generally would also help increase revenue collections. He was referring to the news that SA's first-quarter gross domestic product (GDP) came in higher than expected at 4.8%.
"However, we must remember that we are still off our (growth) peak," Gordhan said.
