Johannesburg - Office hours have been extended ahead of tax season deadline, the SA Revenue Service said on Monday.

Sars branches would be open from 07:00 to 18:00 from Monday until Friday - an extra three hours per day during which taxpayers could receive free assistance, it said in a statement.

Some would be open until 19:00, depending on volumes.

November 20 is the deadline for electronic submission of tax returns.

The contact centre would extend its operating hours to 20:00.

To date Sars had received three million returns, nearly 700 000 more compared to the same period last year.
