The report, tabled in Parliament, noted that in the fiscal year 2002/03 restructuring proceeds had amounted to R7.4bn - a figure slightly down from the R8.1bn projected figure for the March budget this year.
Public Enterprises Minister Jeff Radebe said some of these were attributable to the State's exit from the hospitality sector but the bulk had come from the Telkom listing (R4.1bn).
"These figures should not be seen as the only measurement of our restructuring success, they should be seen within the broader context of improving the economy and making companies globally competitive."
He said the exit from the hospitality sector "led to the retirement of State overdraft obligations to a banking institution but more importantly had broadened the sector through the entry of new economic players".
In the last financial year the disposal of 51% of Apron Services yielded R117m while the Tubomeca/Denel Aerospace joint venture raised R50m. The disposal of four Aventura resorts yielded a further R31m. Eskom declared a dividend of R549m and PetroSA had declared a dividend of R1.5bn.
