Johannesburg - South Africa is not likely to experience a sudden stop of inflows because of tapering from the United States Federal Reserve, SA Reserve Bank deputy governor Lesetja Kganyago said on Wednesday.
Kganyago said the worst-case scenario for the economy, which relies on portfolio flows to fund its wide current account deficit, would be for those inflows to stop abruptly.
"Could a sudden stop happen here? We consider it unlikely," Kganyago said in a speech posted on the Reserve Bank's website.
