Johannesburg - President Jacob Zuma will host the fifth India-Brazil-South Africa (IBSA) summit at the presidential guest house in Pretoria this week, said the department of international relations and co-operation (DIRCO) on Sunday.
Spokesperson Clayson Monyela said the trilateral alliance's
objectives were to "promote South-South co-operation as well as trade and
investment opportunities amongst the three countries".
He said meetings would take place on three levels:
"Heads of State, government-to-government and people-to-people."
Monyela said South Africa's trade with IBSA partners had increased significantly since 2007.
"South Africa's trade statistics for the period 2007-2010 with fellow IBSA countries shows an increase in overall trade from R36.920bn in 2007 to R58.133bn in 2010," he said.
