SA coal exports jump in March

Johannesburg - Richards Bay Coal Terminal (RBCT) exported 7.49 million tonnes of coal in March, up from 5.45 million tonnes the previous month, RBCT data showed on Tuesday.

South Africa - a major exporter of coal to power stations in Europe and Asia - had 3.68 million tonnes of stock at the terminal at the end of March, RBCT said.

Coal producers in South Africa include Anglo American [JSE:AGL], BHP Billiton [JSE:BIL], Exxaro Resources [JSE:EXX] and Xstrata.
